Appalachian Long Distance
Hikers Association
The Appalachian Long Distance
Hikers Association began in 1983
as an off-trail family of fellow
hikers who’ve all shared similar
experiences, hopes and dreams
on the Appalachian Trail and
other trails. Membership in this
nonprofit group is open to all.

The 2009 Gettysburg Gathering
TO THOSE WHO worked behind the scenes, to the roughly 70 folks who presented workshops or major programs, and to all of you who just showed up, we wish to thank you for making the 28th Gathering a great, fun and relaxing time. We want to thank the attendees most of all -- because by registering, you helped us afford it all. You never know who will show up at a Gathering, so the strong attendance was most gratifying indeed and all the reward any of the organizers could ever hope for. Above is the official family photo from 2009. Click on it to download a high-rez version. We have also started compiling an online scrapbook of YOUR pictures, including the one at right from Ryan Hamler (“Redneck Rye”) showing the sunset through an arch during Shane O'Donnell's nighttime battlefield hike. So by all means, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send your photos to aldha@aol.com. And keep checking back at the Gathering Scrapbook as we get more pics.
