The Billy Goat Award
The Billy Goat Award recognizes ALDHA members who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to hiking through the accumulation of 25,000 or more self-logged hiking miles.
Whether earned through thru-hikes, section hikes, weekend excursions, local trail systems, or a combination of all of these, 25,000 miles represents a remarkable lifetime achievement. The Billy Goat Award celebrates not only the miles themselves, but also the persistence, passion, and love of hiking required to reach this milestone.
Eligibility
To qualify for the Billy Goat Award, applicants must:
- Be a current ALDHA member. Not a member? Join here.
- Have accumulated at least 25,000 self-logged hiking miles.
- Submit their current lifetime mileage total.
- Provide a brief summary of their hiking history.
How to Apply
Complete the Billy Goat Award application and submit your lifetime mileage information. Applicants are encouraged to include a photograph and a brief hiking bio or trail story.
Recipients receive a commemorative certificate and Billy Goat Award.
