9/30/2024 The ATC has a Helene Alert page at: http://appalachiantrail.org/helene As of this date, the trail is closed by the Forest Service. The trail needs to be inspected for potential landslides and other dangers.
3/1/2024 – Fontana Village Resort & Marina is open 24/7 for FULL resupply, running shuttle between marina, shelter, and lodge daily (9am,12pm,4pm) and will be every couple of hours when numbers pick up. We offer hiker rates as well as hold packages for no guest thru hikers for a $5 fee.
3/1/2024 – Several corrections:
- Page 44 – mm 290 – Log Cabin Driver. Hemlock Hollow Hostel has been closed for nearly 4 years.
- At Log Cabin driver, right turn for NOBOs approximately 100 yards to Southern Cookie Ladys house. Fresh cookies water and lemonade or sweet tea frequently available
- Page 44 – mm295 Little Laurel Shelter now has a bear box as of January 2024
- Page 44 – mm 302 Jerrys Cabin Shelter now has a bear box as of January 2024
- Page 45 – mm 309 Flint Mtn Shelter now has a bear box as of January 2024
- Page 45 mm 312 Rector Laurel Rd Laurel Hostel: very seasonal. Minor resupply. Can arrange for a shuttle to Erwin.
1/22/2024 – 100 Mile Wilderness Adventures, new owner, 2016 thru-hiker Jordan Sykes, 349 Pleasant St. (PO Box 47), Monson, ME 04464, (207) 370-7843, www.100milewildernessadventures.com; bunkhouse, private cabins, tent sites. Stays include full use of facilities. Free long-term parking for section-hikers; shuttles available from Rangeley to Baxter Park, Millinocket and Bangor. Food drops in 100 Mile Wilderness. Open May 15–October, 2024 rates to be determined. Only .25 mile from AT, off blue blaze into Monson.
